Ørnen 1897 was recorded on August 8 to 10, 2023 at MotorMusic studios (Belgium) and will be released in November 2023 by Antartica Records.
Ørnen 1897 is a musical odyssey to the region beyond the glaciers, fjords and permanent ice, a ‘sound journey’ that pays tribute to three men’s remarkable expedition to the North Pole in 1897.
After years of preparation, the trio left Spitsbergen in a hydrogen balloon to conquer the Arctic ice. After only three days their leaking ØRNEN (Eagle) crashed. It wasn’t until 1930 that a group of whalers found their remains on Kvitøya (White Island).

After their deaths, the polar explorers became posthumous heroes in their home country Sweden.
No trace of the once so proud Ørnen – intended to become a trophy of the international race to reach the North Pole – has ever been found.
